Many years ago, Stanley had the Adventure cook set—simple, tough, and a fantastic value. Recently they replaced it with the Wildfare, and while it’s mostly the same idea (1-qt pot, two cups, lid, locking handle), they made a few changes that I’m not a big fan of—especially the lid design. After I posted my video on the new Stanley set, I kept hearing from folks about a Stansport cook set that looked very similar, so I picked one up to compare them side-by-side. In this video I break down what’s the same and what’s different, and honestly… I don’t like saying it, but Stansport edges out Stanley here. The Stansport kit gives you a wider 1L pot (more stable on a stove), cups that are much easier to hold (the Stanley cups are ridiculously slick), and it includes a large mesh storage bag that can hold the cook set plus extras like a stove and fuel. Both sets are well made and basically equal in build quality, but when you add up the better cup feel, the slightly larger/more stable pot, and the storage bag, the Stansport becomes my pick—even though Stansport’s reputation in outdoor gear is generally pretty rough.
