In this Phu Quoc beach day, we tried to do what a lot of travel videos don’t: actually show you how spread out the “best beaches” are and what it’s like getting between them in real life. Normally we’d rent a scooter, but Shayna’s ankle was not having it, so we bounced between Grab taxis all day. We started at Swing Pier (super cool for watching planes come in over the water), then headed south to Khem Beach—crowded, but honestly beautiful with that white sand and beach clubs lining the shore. From there we did the quick hop over to Sao Beach, and for us it was absolutely worth it. The water was clearer, there were some small waves, and it felt more natural compared to the resort-heavy areas. We also talk real prices (like the 60,000 VND cover charge at one entrance that goes toward your bill, and 150,000 VND for a lounger). Then we made the long push north to Starfish Beach, and this is where we learned the hard way: the drop-off/parking situation can be confusing, and there’s a walk nobody warns you about. We wrapped the day back in Duong Dong for sunset—exhausted but satisfied—and the big takeaway is simple: Phu Quoc is too big to “do” in one day. It’s more like separate destinations stitched together, and you’ll want a few days (and patience) to really see it.
