Hong Kong greeted us with a literal dragon and then just kept surprising us. What stood out most is how Hong Kong feels modern without being sterile, clean without being cold, and welcoming without feeling forced. The city just works — infrastructure, efficiency, design — but the “real” Hong Kong is layered underneath: wet markets with energy, cha chaan tengs, and that old-meets-new vibe everywhere. We also talk practical travel stuff like where we stayed (Panda Hotel, outside the main area for a bigger room at about $90/night), how we got around (Uber, ferry, ding-dings), and where to get the best views for free vs paid. And yes — I’ll tell you straight: the light show from the water was underwhelming, but being on that old-school red-sail boat made the whole night worth it.
