About This Video

Welcome to day one of our Olympic Peninsula overland adventure. I’m Brian, and Craig and I got dropped in Seattle and immediately went into full travel mode—about 1,700 miles, several cups of coffee, and a mission: get our hands on the Mammoth Overland TL trailer and actually use it the way it’s meant to be used. We head to Woodinville, Washington to see how Mammoth builds these things, and it’s wild—these guys come from an aviation background, and the whole trailer is wood-free, rigid, and built for real off-road travel, not “Harbor Freight special” vibes. We break down the Mammoth lineup (HV, Woolly, Ellie, and the TL we’re testing), talk ground clearance, real all-terrain radial tires, and the Timbren suspension setup—because if you’re going to drag a trailer into the woods, suspension matters. From there, we tow the TL behind a dedicated overlanding rig—a 2023 Chevy Colorado ZR2 super cab—and make our way toward the peninsula, including a ferry ride that cost too much and took forever, but still saved us time. To end day one, we use onX Offroad to find dispersed camping in Olympic National Forest, stay legal, avoid private land, and get ourselves a killer campsite with nobody around. Off-grid shower, dinner in the woods, fog so thick it felt like Bigfoot country—exactly why we love overlanding.
