About This Video

This week on Texas Truck Channel, I finally got my hands on the volume-selling F-150 that I recommend to people more than just about anything else: the 2.7 EcoBoost STX. Ours is a 2025 4x4 with the 3.55 gears, no locker, no FX4 skid package, but it does have the big 36-gallon tank—which is a huge deal if you actually drive your truck. I walk through the STX-specific styling (and why I think it looks better than the updated XLT), the basic-but-functional bed features, and the interior reality of an STX: great layout, big standard screen, but a steering wheel that feels cheap and seats that sit a little too high. Then we do what matters: real testing. We ran 0–60 with a RaceBox and saw a 6.66 with three people in the truck, and a best of 5.73. The takeaway is the same thing I’ve been saying for years—people are sleeping on the 2.7. It punches above its weight, the 10-speed in this one actually behaves (no weird gear hunting), and the ride quality on the “old wagon” leaf springs is way better than it has any right to be. If you want a people’s truck that’s basically everything you need and nothing you don’t, this STX is right in the value sweet spot.
