About This Video

We’re back at our hill test, and this time we brought something that honestly has no business being up there: a 2026 Ram Limited Longhorn with 22-inch wheels and street/highway tires. Conditions were nasty—wet, slippery, and rutted out after about 2.5 inches of rain—so it was the perfect day to see what the return of the 5.7 eTorque HEMI can do when traction is at a premium. We broke down the key specs (about an $86K truck, 3.92 limited slip rear axle, no lockers), then leaned on the one big “off-road” trick this luxury barge has: air ride with Off-Road 1 and Off-Road 2 heights to improve approach angle. We tried it in the same spirit we test everything—start in the default settings and see what happens. It got to the obstacle easily in 4WD Auto, but the approach angle immediately became the problem. Once we leveled out and raised it to the highest height, we committed with 4-Low and off-road mode. That’s where it fell apart: the tires just spun, we couldn’t get the bite we needed, and we even triggered a check engine light with some scary throttle behavior while left-foot braking uphill. Bottom line: clearance and drivetrain were close, but today’s weather plus street tires (and no locker) kept this Limited Longhorn from making the main line—proof that marketing doesn’t beat physics.
