About This Video

In this video I show you how I stabilize shaky footage in DaVinci Resolve Fusion using the Tracker node (not the regular Edit page stabilizer). The reason I use this method is simple: it gives you complete control. I can choose exactly which points I want to track, and that tracking data becomes the base for my stabilization—so I’m not guessing what Resolve is doing under the hood. I start by adding a Tracker node to the comp and doing the track. One important thing: for stabilization you should have at least two track points, and you need to pick points that don’t have a big perspective difference between them—otherwise the stabilization won’t look good. After tracking, I go to the Operation tab, set it to Match Move, and change the merge setting to BG Only. Then I use the Position/Rotation/Scaling tick boxes to stabilize the motion I want. I also cover the Pivot Type options (Tracker Average, Selected Tracker, Manual) to improve rotation stabilization, and the Reference option to choose which frame becomes the “final stabilized” target (Start, End, or a custom frame using Select Time). And even after stabilizing, I can still use Offset to fine-tune the result.
