About This Video

In this video I did a complete walkthrough of everything you need to know about changing clip speed in DaVinci Resolve—slow motion, fast motion, and the settings that actually decide how good (or bad) your result looks. I start from Project Settings > Master Settings > Frame Interpolation, because that’s where Resolve decides how it will create “new frames” when you slow down or speed up a clip. I break down Retime Process (Nearest, Frame Blend, Optical Flow) and why Optical Flow usually gives the best result, but also eats more resources. Then I go into Motion Estimation Method (Standard/Enhanced, Faster/Better) and Motion Range, because feeding Resolve the right “amount of motion” makes slow motion way easier to handle. After that I show the practical ways to change speed: Clip Attributes (source-level frame rate changes), Inspector speed controls (forward/reverse/freeze frame, speed vs frames, ripple timeline, pitch correction), and the Change Clip Speed popup (including keyframe behavior like Maintain Timing vs Stretch to Fit). My favorite workflow is Retime Controls and Retime Curve—because you can see the percentage on the clip, add speed points like keyframes, use presets like Speed Ramp, and then fine-tune with curves and easing. If you’re trying to get clean speed ramps without guessing, this is the full map.
