In this video I’m checking out the EKSA Mako BT 2.4GHz wireless gaming headset, and at around $40, it surprised me way more than I expected. I go through the unboxing and everything you get in the box: the headset, USB-A to USB-C charging cable, a 3.5mm-to-USB-C cable for wired use, a detachable mic, and a super handy wireless dongle that works with both USB-C and USB-A thanks to the slide-on adapter. Right away, the build quality stood out—this doesn’t feel cheap or overly plasticky, and it has a nice weight to it. I also break down comfort and features like the adjustable head strap, soft ear cushions for longer sessions, on-headset volume slider, and a physical mic mute button. For connectivity you’ve got 2.4GHz wireless, Bluetooth, or wired, and the dongle makes it especially good for Steam Deck—plug it in and it connects instantly with no software. Sound-wise, it’s not on the level of my Razer BlackShark V2, but for the price it’s honestly solid: clear audio from the 50mm drivers, decent highs and lows, and bass that’s fine but could be stronger. Battery life has been solid in my use, with the main downside being you can’t really see battery level on 2.4GHz—only over Bluetooth.
