About This Video

In this video, I’m testing Crimson Desert’s first major patch on the Steam Deck and doing a direct comparison against the original launch version. The patch notes call out improved rendering stability and better visual quality in low-resolution situations or when upscaling is enabled, so that’s exactly what I focused on. To keep it fair, I ran both versions with FSR4 and the exact same in-game settings. I also tried to match the same areas as closely as possible so you can see what’s changed without a bunch of variables getting in the way. One thing I noticed right away is that the new version seems to handle lighting differently in low-light scenes, so if you’re watching for “improvements,” keep that in mind—sometimes changes can look like performance shifts when it’s really the lighting and rendering behavior changing. I basically put the footage side-by-side and let you judge for yourself whether this patch is actually moving the needle on Deck.
