Slay the Spire 2 is finally here, and after testing it on the AYN Odin 3, I think this might be one of the most perfect handheld games you can play on this device. In this video I test performance, battery life, and overall gameplay experience to see how well Slay the Spire 2 runs on the Odin 3. About This Video

In this video I’m testing Slay the Spire 2 on the AYN Odin 3, and yeah—this is exactly the kind of handheld game that just makes sense on this device. It’s lightweight, super chill to play, and it fits the “pick up, play a couple of runs, suspend, and jump right back in” flow perfectly. I’m running max settings (there isn’t a ton to tweak, but I set MSAA to 8x) at 720p, because honestly I don’t think you need more than 720p here—and it helps conserve battery. The Odin 3 can do 1080p, but for this game I’d rather take the efficiency. Performance-wise I’m at 60 FPS, but it’s not a game that needs 60, so I show what happens when you cap it. At 30 FPS I’m seeing around 3–6W power draw, and if I run the standard preset with the fan off and the display set to 60 Hz, I can get it down to roughly 2.8–3.1W. That puts you in “over 10 hours” territory, and you can stretch it even more with lower brightness. I also cover the GameHub setup: you’ll want the Vulkan command line, and you need Wine 10.6 RM64X-2 because Proton throws an error. Multiplayer works fine too, just like it did on my Steam Deck.
