About This Video

In this video I’m testing Slay the Spire 2 on both the Steam Deck OLED and the Steam Deck LCD to see exactly how it runs, what settings actually matter, and how much battery life you can squeeze out of it. I run the game at max settings with MSAA set to 8, VSync off, and I check battery estimates with no TDP limiting and no FPS cap. As expected, it’s extremely lightweight and the Deck handles it easily—battery life on the OLED sits around ~8 hours at higher FPS, and the game size is only 1.71 GB so it barely touches your storage. I also go through the in-game settings (there aren’t many), including the nice 16:10 aspect ratio option that the first game didn’t have, plus general toggles like screen shake and background FPS limiting. I compare 60 FPS vs 30 FPS: capping to 30 can push the OLED to around ~9 hours 20 minutes, but I did notice occasional stutters at 30 FPS (usually on hits or map transitions), so I personally recommend 60 FPS or higher unless you really need that extra battery. I also tested online multiplayer by hosting on the Deck and playing with a friend on PC—worked perfectly and didn’t change performance or battery in my testing.
