Resident Evil Requiem supports both FSR 3 and FSR 4 - so I tested them side by side to see which one actually delivers the best image quality. The difference is much bigger than I expected. About This Video

In this video I compared FSR 4 versus FSR 3 (3.1.5) in Resident Evil Requiem, side by side, because the game supports both and I wanted to see what actually changes in image quality. Right away, FSR 4 looks much better than I expected—especially on hair and on signage. With FSR 3 the signs tend to shimmer and “jump around,” but with FSR 4 everything is noticeably more stable, including neon signage and details on doors. For the test, I kept in mind that FSR 3 was set to Balanced while FSR 4 was set to Performance, and even then FSR 4 still looked cleaner in a lot of scenes. You will take a small performance hit though—around a 2–3 FPS difference in actual gameplay from what I saw. If you’re targeting a 30 FPS cap on Steam Deck, it should still feel fine, and you can also tweak the upscaling quality to make up some of that performance while keeping the better look. I also show how to install FSR 4 on Deck: it’s not done via the Decky plugin. You download the file, go to Desktop Mode, browse local files for the game, and replace the DLL in the game folder (I recommend backing up the original). If you ever want to revert, you can verify integrity of game files and Steam will restore the original file.
