About This Video

In this video I’m comparing FSR 3.1.5 to FSR 4 in Crimson Desert on the Steam Deck OLED, focusing on the stuff that actually matters in motion: shadows, shimmering, texture stability, and how “clean” the image looks while you’re playing. FSR 4 is definitely heavier, so I didn’t do an unfair apples-to-oranges test—I matched things up by running FSR 4 on Performance mode and FSR 3.1.5 on Balanced to kind of equalize performance. The big takeaway is that FSR 4 looks significantly better even at the more aggressive Performance preset. You can see it right away in faces (less smear and shimmer in hair/beards), and especially in foliage and shadow detail where FSR 3.1.5 tends to shimmer and crawl. The tradeoff is real though: I’m generally seeing about a 2–4 FPS hit in some scenes, and when you’re fighting to stay above 30 FPS, that’s not always something you can afford. Still, if you care about stability and getting rid of that noisy “potato/hair strands” look, FSR 4 is a noticeable upgrade. I’ve got more Crimson Desert coverage coming, including best settings.
