Crimson Desert on the Steam Deck is… not in a great state right now. Performance is inconsistent, and getting a smooth experience takes some tweaking. In this video, I go through the best settings to improve FPS, reduce stutter, and make the game as playable as possible on the Steam Deck. About This Video

In this video I’m going through the best settings I’ve found so far to make Crimson Desert on the Steam Deck look and run a little bit better. I’m going to be honest: I still don’t recommend playing it on Deck right now. Performance is inconsistent, and it’s not a “flip one switch and it’s fixed” situation. But with a couple of tweaks, you can go from a really rough experience to something that’s at least more playable. I show you how to install FSR 4 (drop the DL file into the game’s Bin64 folder and overwrite), then I use a specific launch command (SteamDeck=0 %Command%) to unlock hidden settings so you can actually go lower than “Low” and set the game to “Minimum.” After that, I set up Lossless Scaling in a way that keeps input lag under control—because normally I don’t recommend frame-gen style tricks when you’re under 40 FPS. With my settings (FSR 4 on Performance, mostly Minimum settings, Lighting on Low, VSync off, plus Deck-side tweaks like Allow Tearing, Half Rate Shading, and a 1600 MHz manual GPU clock), you’re typically looking at around 25–32 FPS. It’s not magic, but if Deck is your only option, this is about as good as I’ve been able to get it right now.
