About This Video

What’s Kraken! In this video I’m finally delivering on a promise I made to Arthur at Power Holdings after living with the Violectric HPA V281 Limited Edition for a few months. I walk you through what the V281LE actually is (a 200-unit reissue based on the original V281), what’s changed on the outside, and why it’s become a permanent resident on my desk. We talk the updated faceplate, the added balanced 4.4mm out, the 128-step volume pot (no more clicky pot, thank you), the remote, and one of my favorite “missed features” on a lot of amps: a real balance knob for channel imbalance—gear or your own ears. Then I get into the stuff that matters: power, pairings, and synergy. This thing is truly meant to be run balanced, and it’s one of those amps that just keeps giving as impedance goes up—up to 5.6W at 100 ohms and still 2.7W at 600 ohms. I also explain why this amp is DAC-picky: my Holo Cyan 2 is a killer match, while Modius E and JDS Labs J3 Pro didn’t do it for me here. Finally, I break down how it plays with my headphones (ZMF Caldera Closed, Atrium Closed, DCA Dalia, and more), plus a heads-up on super sensitive IEMs where you can hear noise floor.
