What’s Kraken! In this one I’m talking about an amp I’ve had in-house for a few months and have been enjoying the hell out of: the Burson Soloist GT4. This isn’t me trying to do a super formal “review” as much as it is me walking you through how I’ve actually been using it day-to-day, what features I think are legit useful, and where it makes sense (and where it doesn’t) depending on your budget. I also break down the pricing and versions—Standard, Deluxe, and Maximum—and why the Deluxe felt like the sweet spot to me with the V7 op amps, V2 Silent Power Modules, and upgraded Supercharger power supply. I run through the feature set (big power—up to 10W balanced in high gain at 16 ohms—class A per channel, ladder-style volume control, crossfeed, dual RCA + dual XLR inputs, preouts, trigger in/out, and that wild headphone + sub mix option). Then I get into my actual setup with two DACs plugged in at once (JDS Labs J3 Pro and Holo Cyan 2), quick A/B comparisons against the Schiit Midgard, and a bunch of headphones/IEMs like HD600, ZMFs, Meze, and the Audio-Technica ADX7000. The takeaway: it’s not “10x better” than a $250 amp, but it can absolutely feel like jumping resolution and staging on the right headphones—especially with stuff like the ADX7000—plus you’re paying for features, flexibility, and refinement.
