About This Video

Heat. Heat. What’s Kraken! In this video I’m breaking down the ZMF Ori 3.0 (closed-back planar, released August 2025) and—more importantly—how it actually behaves once you start messing with synergy, pads, and those tuning pegs. Yeah, you can read the product page for the general sound, but I wanted to focus on the stuff that gives people anxiety when ordering a ZMF: what comes stock, what options are worth it, and what changes are real in day-to-day listening. I also touch build/comfort (big ZMF energy, ~530g, suspension strap doing work), isolation expectations, and why I don’t think the pegs magically turn it into a totally different isolation monster. Sound-wise, my favorite setup is simple: thick lambskin pads with no plugs. That’s where the Ori 3.0 turns into a bassy, slammy boy—thumpy, not boomy—with a dip into upper bass/lower mids that can show up depending on track (and even in games). The midrange timbre is excellent and “more dynamic than planar” to my ears, and the treble is airy with occasional track-dependent peaks. I also rank pad/plug combos (spoiler: solid plugs are a no for me), go over my amp pairings (GT4 and V281 were top), and compare Ori 3.0 directly to Atrium Closed and Caldera Closed so you can pick the right flavor for your chain and your preferences.
