Meze just expanded upon the 105/109 series of headphones with the Silva. Is this the sweet spot in the lineup?? I'll discuss that along with the comparisons to the 105 AER and 109 Pro for music and gaming! About This Video

What’s Kraken! In this video I’m breaking down the Meze 105 Silva—an open-back dynamic driver headphone that comes in at $499 and lands right between the 105 Air ($399) and the 109 Pro ($799). I go through the unboxing (clamshell case, upgraded woven cable, 6.3 adapter, and a USB-C to 3.5 dongle DAC), then dive into build/comfort. The Silva uses walnut wood + ABS, has that super comfy self-adjusting headband, plush velour pads, and Meze’s awesome “everything is serviceable” approach. For sound, I focus on what actually matters: the Silva has the least emphasized sub-bass of the three, but it still brings some mid-bass fullness and impact. The midrange is the meat and potatoes here—really, really good—but I do hear an elevated 2–3k-ish region that can be flattering for guitars/strings and vocals, yet occasionally fatiguing if you’re sensitive. Up top, it’s got some tasteful brilliance and air (great for space and gaming) without getting as bright/peaky as the 109 Pro, while not being as smooth/relaxed as the 105 Air. I also cover track examples and gaming (Kingdom Come: Deliverance 2), and I wrap it all up with where the Silva fits depending on your music and your gaming vibe.
