This video features the Geshelli Labs J3 Pro DAC and my time swapping out the Op-Amps on it. I used both the Burson V7 Vivd/Classic and the Sparkos SS2590 Pro with the Dual Dip 8. About This Video

Hey, what’s cracking everyone—this video is my long-term op-amp swap journey with the Geshelli Labs J3 Pro DAC, and it actually started back at Expona 2025. After talking with Sher from Geshelli and then linking up with Andrew Sparks from Sparkos, I decided to finally do the “op-amp swap project” and share what I heard. For this setup, I ran the Sparkos SS2590 Pro (with the Dual DIP8 adapter) on the RCA output and the Burson V7 series (Vivid and Classic) on the balanced output, then listened mostly through the Schiit Midgard with the HiFi For All Dahlia to really pick out the differences. Sound-wise, the Sparkos 2590 and Burson V7 Vivid are extremely close—both are transparent, detailed, and punchy. If I’m nitpicking, the V7 Vivid felt ever-so-slightly more dynamic with a sharper edge, but it’s tiny and not something you’ll always notice. The V7 Classic, though, is where the “flavor” change is easier to hear: softer edges, a touch more warmth, slightly less bass control/extension, and staging that felt a bit more “in” compared to the Vivid/2590. I also cover the actual swap process (and a big PSA: don’t hot swap—unplug everything). And while I’m not an audio engineer, I can tell you the upgraded op-amps were most obvious with my Violectric V281LE, where the J3 Pro stepped up in detail, transparency, and dynamics and got way closer to what I liked about the Holo Cyan 2 synergy-wise. If op-amp rolling is on your bucket list, this is me saying: go check it off.
