What’s Kraken! In this video I get a little more personal and talk about why headphones are my escape from reality. I start by asking you what you prefer—two-channel speakers, headphones, IEMs, Bluetooth, even the car—and why, because I know for most of us it “depends”… but we all still have that one favorite. For me, it’s always been headphones, and a big part of that is simple: there’s a lot of noise out there right now, and it’s anxiety-filling. Headphones let me put something on my head and just focus on music, gaming, or a movie without the outside world bleeding in. I also rewind a bit and talk about how I came up on speakers (even a 5.1 Logitech setup back in the day), then switched because I needed things to be more private—especially gaming with friends and now having a family. Over time it became more than “sound on my head,” too: comfort, style, fit, and all the little swap-and-tweak accessories turned it into a legit collection-type hobby. Then I hit the other side of the coin: the noise inside the hobby. I’m over the constant arguing—sound signatures, brands, cables, balanced vs unbalanced, amps, tubes, dongles—because negativity feeds negativity. The full-circle moment? My 5-year-old basically roasted me at the dinner table: “you guys talk too much and you’re too loud,” then put her headphones back on. Exactly. Headphones tune out the noise—so let’s enjoy the music and chill on the hate.
