What’s kraken! In this video I’m diving into the Flip Ears Arion—their newest flagship IEM and, yeah, it’s a spicy one at $2,499. It’s a quadbrid setup with the Earthquake bone conductor driver, Flip Ears’ own 10mm dynamic driver, an electric spark tweeter, and a proprietary balanced armature. I go over the whole package: that handcrafted faceplate (master jewelers, and it shows), the included custom Eletech 4.4 balanced cable, the case, tips, and my one little unboxing nitpick with the tip baggie getting snagged on the velcro. Sound-wise, the headline is the bass. This thing reaches stupid low—under 20Hz “felt bass”—and it’s addictive, but it still transitions clean into a rich, laid-back midrange. Vocals sit more in the mix than in-your-face, and the treble has warmth with these little “sun ray” bursts from the electric tweeter that help with separation and detail. I also talk pairing because it’s super sensitive (9Ω / 122dB): I ran it on the iFi DC Elite, Campfire Audio Relay, and my Burson Soloist GT4 (low gain), and the DC Elite was my favorite for control, robustness, and pinpoint accuracy.
