Welcome back to Shelvington and to the March 2026 model railway update. In this video I take you on a full walk around my garage model railway layout and show you just how much has changed since the last update. What started out as a lower level fiddle yard has now grown into almost a full multi level OO gauge layout, with new baseboards, powered track and big plans for scenery. We look at the developing town scene with the old pub, houses from the previous layout and some brilliant industrial units complete with lighting. There is a brand new container yard taking shape with three lines planned for container yard, a crane location, yard entrance hut and loads of operating potential. I also talk through plans for an engine shed, a possible wash plant, an abandoned station and goods yard, plus ideas for a large depot area. The fiddle yard is now fully wired, illuminated with LED lighting and powered with proper feeder and dropper wires for steady DCC running. I explain the reversing loop setup, track power testing and a few lessons learned along the way. There is also a cheap onboard style camera that will soon give us train eye views once I finish the rewiring. One of the biggest talking points in this update is the huge 6 metre scenic area that is still undecided. Industrial, countryside, station, depot or something completely different. I would genuinely love your ideas. If you enjoy model railway layout builds, garage layouts, track planning, DCC wiring, container yards, engine sheds and realistic scenery planning, you are in the right place. About This Video

Welcome back to Shelvington — I’m Andy, and this is my OO/HO garage layout. In this March 2026 update (filmed end of Feb), I take you on a full walk-around because the layout has changed massively since the last video. What started as a lower-level fiddle yard has pretty much morphed into an almost multi-level layout, with new baseboards going in and the upper “shelf” section (original Shelvington) now tying into the wider plan. I run through the town scene taking shape — the old pub, the houses from the previous layout, plus some brilliant industrial units from my mate Richard (with lighting fitted, which is going to look really cool). I also show the container yard area: three planned container lines, a crane spot, and a little entrance hut, with loads of operating potential. On top of that, I talk through ideas for an engine shed and maybe a wash plant, plus an abandoned station and old goods yard where I can park up a weathered steam loco. The big practical win is the fiddle yard: it’s now fully wired, LED-lit, and properly fed with feeder and dropper wires for steadier DCC running. I explain my reversing loop setup using an AR1 module, share a quick lesson learned about cheap voltmeters, and show a budget onboard-style camera I’ll be using for train-eye views once the rewiring is finished. The biggest question is still the huge 6m scenic stretch — and I genuinely want your ideas for what to build there.
