Abrupt changes in routine can cause stress in your dog. Stress can lead to frustration and confusion, sometimes fear, which can lead to behavioral problems. As many people will be returning to a normal work schedule, potentially abruptly once the quarantine is lifted, dogs that have been used to having everyone at home 24/7 will now be alone again during the day. This may be a difficult transition for some dogs. Here are a few ways that you can start now to make that transition easier on your dog - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - KONG: https://amzn.to/31kl3mk FURBO: https://amzn.to/36BTTYW CET CHEWS: https://amzn.to/37sBwGw - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - - ★ Before the Quarantine is Lifted: ● Try to keep a similar routine daily ● Wake up at the usual time you would to prepare for work ● Keep feeding times the same ● Keep exercise the same, (if you walk, play fetch, or run with your dog after you get home in the evening - keep those activities around the same time) ● Use your extra time with your dog during the day to work on new obedience skills or mentally stimulating activities ● Continue using the crate during the time you would be at work for rest periods to keep crate routine and the crate a positive place ● If your dogs are not crated while you are at work, give them separated independent free time away from you in short spurts throughout the day ★ When you Return to Work: ● Stagger back if you can, whether it’s less hours (preferable) or fewer days to start than normal and gradually increase your work hours so this change is not as abrupt for your dog ● If you go immediately back to fulltime and the house is empty, consider hiring a dog walker to help with the transition ● Use frozen kongs or special higher value safe treats that they don’t get when you are home to put in the crate or with your dog when you leave for work ● Consider getting a Furbo so that you can monitor your dog and interact with them throughout the day when you are not home ● Keep the excitement level down when you enter and exit the home ● Plan for continued routine exercise and one-on-one time with your dog. Some workloads and work stress may increase with return so be prepared to still block off some time for your furry friends If you'd like to work with me schedule a virtual consultation: https://saraondrako.com ❤️ WATCH NEXT: ○ How To Correctly Cut, Trim & Dremel Your Dog's Nails: https://youtu.be/atL9Lo-CbaY ○ How To Remove Dog Hair From Your Car : https://youtu.be/PGrVyi8K07c ○ How To Get Your Dog To Love The Muzzle: https://youtu.be/DqM2_vLcQ2Y ○ How To Brush Your Dogs Teeth: https://youtu.be/aU3n7kaPxKI ○ How To Give A Rescue Dog A Bath: https://youtu.be/Zj9S9apdJN4 ○ Canine CPR: What You Must Know: https://youtu.be/uy8SURrYyKU 🌹 COME SAY HI!
