Happy 2023—this is a short and sweet one. In this video I’m showing a small LED display base I picked up for photographing some of the woodcraft I’ve been doing, and also for little minis and small builds like RG Gundams. I’ve gone through a couple different bases already, and this Semme one is finally “fairly decent” for the money—especially since it’s basically always on sale with that 10–15% off. It’s a simple unit that runs on three AAA batteries, and it color-shifts through different colors (you can also buy solid-color versions). The big win for me is the top plate is glass, not acrylic—because a bunch of the ones I tried scratched up way too easily and didn’t feel sturdy. It’s about three inches across, stable enough for small items, but it will slide around since there’s no rubber feet (easy fix). My only real gripe is I wish it either rotated or at least let me lock it to a single color instead of cycling—my bigger photo turntables can do that. Still, for under ten bucks after discount, it’s a clean little option for quick photos without dragging out bigger lights and gear.
