About This Video

Well, hello there boys and girls—Dave here with Starshadow Woodworks with a shop update and a jig I flat-out needed. I’m in the middle of getting my tool wall and French cleat setup dialed in (I’ll do a full walkthrough in another video), and I also built a new bench that I’m really happy with. The big reason for this update though is my upcoming kitchen table build. The plan is to use castle joints for the legs and aprons, and with the bigger material I’m working with, I didn’t want to mess around trying to do it with a router. The problem is most tenon/castle joint jigs assume you’ve got a “normal” table saw fence—and I don’t, because I’m not a normal person. I run an Incra LS/TS system, and I love it, but it changes how you can mount and guide jigs. So I built my own sliding jig out of 3/4" plywood scraps, T-track hardware, and a little patience (and yes, I sat on the idea for about four days). I waxed and sanded the contact surfaces, used blue Loctite once I had it fitting right, and ended up with a beefy, stable setup that slides into the Incra track with basically zero side-to-side play. I also show off a new dust collector setup that’s been freaking fantastic—especially the bucket design—plus a swing arm and a Shop Nation add-on that made a world of difference. Stay tuned… kitchen table inbound.
