This was an impromptu shop video because I’ve been getting messaged by everybody and their dog about Kaizo Waterfall spraybooth water flow and sputtering issues—especially my subscriber Wylan. I tore into the “guts” of the booth and found the big culprit: the original basket/plate setup wasn’t letting enough water return to the pump area. The pump was basically outpacing the flow back to it, which is where the sputtering, bubbles, frothing, and splashback start showing up. I also noticed overspray residue (black primer, then red) showing up where it shouldn’t—slimy paint gunk on the backside, on the glass, and even on the fan blades. My fixes were simple but practical: I improved the seal on the filter frame by adding additional machine screws along the edges (after drilling proper holes) so the foam backing actually compresses and you don’t get daylight around the sides. For water flow, I modified the internal plate by cutting a notch (band saw) after drilling cracked it, then I swapped the basket idea for a brass mesh screen that goes down to the bottom—easy to pull, rinse, and reinstall. If you’re worried about paint getting past the new filter setup, I also shared a cheap trick: slip an old nylon over the filter like a pre-filter and toss/replace it as needed. Bottom line: keep the water volume right (about 1.1L) and make sure the return flow can keep up with the pump.
