In this video I’m doing a straight-up unboxing of the Dream Gear 1/300 ARKHITECT Advanced Research “Special Edition” — the Iwata-branded version I grabbed from RobotKai.com. There are two versions (unbranded and Iwata), and I went Iwata because it was the same price and, honestly, why not. It’s supposed to be a spaceship, but I’m not gonna lie… it looks like a giant airbrush, and the whole concept is what tickled my fancy in the first place. I crack the box open and go through what you actually get: six baggies/runners, the instruction manual, a styrene LED sheet, and a micro-USB cable. The big win for me is it’s USB powered — no batteries — and it includes a base. I flip through the manual, point out the bilingual instructions, the runner layouts, and the color callouts (including that it references MODO paints, which is great because I’ve got a ton). The parts breakdown is pretty wild: lots of panel lines, piping, frosted clear pieces to transmit light, and some “premium” panels with Iwata branding. I also call out a common heads-up I’ve heard from other builders: the wiring can be finicky, but if something comes loose, I can re-solder and keep it moving.
