I gave OLED an honest shot. I did. The LG OLED 42 inch TV has been a perfect monitor. Almost. In my video about my premium Dell Monitor I kind of ranted a bit about OLED monitors and complained about using OLED TVs as monitors but I wanted to expand on that a bit more fully in this video. I used OLED for about a year and as great as it was, I'm so relieved to be switching back to a premium monitor. Today we're elaborating on why an OLED TV might be a good choice for some but not others as a monitor. We'll focus on its strengths and then its weaknesses. In the end, we'll show that while the technology is almost ready, there are deal breaker limitations that eventually wear you down, especially when you use an OLED TV, not OLED monitor. *LG OLED TV* C4 42" 4K https://amzn.to/4lUKILk *TERRIFIC Dell Monitor* Dell 32" 4K IPS Black 120Hz (U3225QE) | https://amzn.to/4k2aMSr *40 INCH VERSION IF THE ABOVE IS OUT OT STOCK* Dell 40" Thunderbolt 5K 120Hz (U4025QW) | https://amzn.to/445iIxY *Office* LG Vertical Mouse https://amzn.to/3GDHEmi LG MX Master Keyboard https://amzn.to/4d8Wi1r Desk Felt Pads https://amzn.to/4jhCKKe *CHAPTERS* 00:00 Introduction 00:47 Hardware Limitations 03:52 Software Limitations 05:20 Looking Ahead.. 06:04 ENJOY *TANDEM OLED* Article https://us.msi.com/blog/5-Layer-Tandem-OLED *SOCIAL* Instagram - https://www.instagram.com/ruslan.tulupov/ Twitter - https://twitter.com/RuslanTulupov Email - tulupov120101@gmail.com *YOUTUBE CHANNEL(S)* Cars, Home DIY https://youtube.com/@RuslanVideoFilms Tech DIY https://www.youtube.com/@RuslanTulupov *SEE MY OTHER VIDEOS* https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHK15PAaEKsk_IGRGDUE2Cit https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHJzDSsSBBDMmEL4kmWN3yQE https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHJ9VlisT45SoUxKk1LY-776 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHJDmg8qwih7qLhb7srMXaNA https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHLl9ULvQgRgwTrkYlli8mlR https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHJDMMwu7qpJ8huhmG_cRtp4 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHIO-dux0PQQ5BksvnncK3D2 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHIyhL3f3weKYDoo36ewTrF9 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHLq2aZUNUDRMMXpE_hSAcce https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHKHtsFyW4Jj2VKtAIQRClGl https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHKo0fna7UckRf1XzipdqMW2 https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHKH6oxC3akLgkSlf7kFkgnI https://www.youtube.com/playlist?list=PLsM6d1ncFAHIi0F687GATslpMHUkmJVGo *MUSIC* Karl Casey @ White Bat Audio https://www.youtube.com/@UC_6hQy4elsyHhCOskZo0U5g

About This Video

I gave OLED an honest shot. I did. I ran an LG 42-inch OLED TV as my main “monitor” for about a year, and in a lot of ways it really was perfect… almost. In this video I break down why OLED TVs can be an amazing choice on a desk (contrast, pop, the whole vibe), but also why the day-to-day compromises eventually wear you down when you’re doing real work on a Mac. I go through the hardware limitations that got me: text fringing that makes small/high-contrast text look weird, aggressive auto-dimming on static content, and brightness behavior that changes depending on how much of the screen is white (Word/Excel will expose this instantly). I also had occasional HDMI wake/input weirdness with my MacBook, which turns into an annoying plug/unplug routine you shouldn’t be doing to an expensive laptop. Then there’s the software/lifestyle side: all the burn-in “countermeasures” (dark mode, hiding dock/menu bar, changing accent colors, aggressive screensaver, wallpaper rotation). When I switched back to a premium Dell monitor, the relief was immediate—terrific color without the anxiety. OLED is close, and I’m excited about stuff like tandem multi-layer panels, but for now I’m sticking with a real monitor for real productivity.
