I had the opportunity to review two BenQ monitor light bars—and by “opportunity,” I mean I went out and bought them myself because I needed better lighting on my desk. In this video I focus on the BenQ ScreenBar Pro, and I’m not doing the lazy “read the spec sheet” thing. I go through the stuff that actually matters day-to-day: packaging, setup, build quality, how it mounts, how it rotates, brightness, color temperature adjustment, and the extra features like auto brightness and proximity sensing. The Pro model is only about $30 more than the base ScreenBar, but it basically eclipses it in features and value. The build is a big part of that—BenQ uses a hollowed metal tube instead of the cheap flimsy plastic I’ve seen on budget bars like the Quntis (which I returned). The mount is redesigned to cover less bezel, it presses against the monitor shell (not the panel), and the rotation is smooth without the “this is going to break itself” feeling. My favorite part is the auto on/off proximity sensor: I toggle it on, show up, and the desk lights up—then it turns off like clockwork when I leave. If you can swing the extra $30, I recommend the ScreenBar Pro.
