I’m seeing a ton of people online reporting bigger-than-usual battery drain on iOS 26, especially on the iPhone Air, and I made this quick video to show what’s actually going on. The big point: I can’t take credit for the real breakdown—WAYNE Tech did an excellent step-by-step demo showing how things like Control Center, swiping around the Home Screen, dynamic wallpapers, and the overall “fluff” in iOS 26 can combine into some seriously crazy power drain. And this isn’t just an iPhone Air problem—if you’re on any iPhone (or an older iPhone on iOS 26) and your battery suddenly feels like it’s dying, this is likely why. I also wanted to address one piece of advice I keep seeing: “turn off transparency.” Wayne shows that disabling transparency can actually add to battery drain, which tells me some of these features are just poorly optimized at the software level right now. The good news is Apple already pushed a 26.1 beta that, based on early reports, helps battery life. I’m personally waiting for the public release because I don’t want to run test software on my daily iPhone.
