Today I bring you the fourth annual rush Reality VR Game of the Year and it has been a phenomenal year for VR Gaming! After a tough couple of years with lack lustre outputs for VR gamers, it feels like we have turned a corner and I found it challenging to pick the best games this year as there was so much choice. Here I look at Quest, PCVR and PSVR 2 titles to decide what was most enjoyable to play. Let me know your thoughts, did your list differ to mine and what was the best game you played last year? About This Video

Every year when we roll into a new one, I put together my Rush Reality VR Game of the Year list—and 2023 honestly felt like the year we finally turned a corner. After a couple of pretty lacklustre years, it was actually difficult to narrow things down because there was so much more choice across Quest, PCVR and PSVR2. In this video I count down my top picks, plus a few special mentions that I had a great time with even if they didn’t quite have the depth to make the final list. I kick things off with Gran Turismo 7 on PSVR2 as my fifth place because it surprised me with how fully-fledged the VR mode is—especially if you’re into sim racing like I am. Then I get into Vertigo 2 (a brilliant indie PCVR standout), Horizon Call of the Mountain (pure PSVR2 spectacle), and Assassin’s Creed Nexus (a genuinely impressive, full campaign VR entry that blew past my “big franchise VR” expectations). Before revealing my Game of the Year, I also shout out Synapse, Vampire: The Masquerade – Justice, and both Resident Evil Village and Resident Evil 4 on PSVR2. My top spot goes to Asgard’s Wrath 2 on Quest 3, because it set a new standard for what I think standalone VR can achieve.
