About This Video

In this long-term review, I’m looking back at the PlayStation VR2 now that it’s been over two years since launch, and asking the question everyone’s thinking in 2025: has it actually held up, and is it finally worth buying after the price shifts? I talk about the stuff I still genuinely like—comfort is better than it looks thanks to that halo strap, the OLED panels deliver fantastic colours and deep blacks, and the eye tracking is still one of the best implementations I’ve used because Sony actually let games use it. I also still rate the guided IPD setup, and the Sense controllers have the best haptic triggers in VR, full stop. But I’m also very honest about what lets it down. The headset feels dated next to the current push for smaller form-factor headsets, the Fresnel lenses and that hazy “mura” effect are hard to ignore, and the overall PlayStation software experience is still just a flat menu instead of something that feels magical. The biggest issue, though, is the games—two years later, the launch highlights (Horizon, GT7, Resident Evil) are still basically the pitch, and that’s incredibly disappointing. I also cover the PC adapter: it’s nice to have, but losing eye tracking, foveated rendering and HDR on PC is a massive missed opportunity. My takeaway: at $399 it’s more compelling, and second-hand deals can make it genuinely worth it—but it’s still a tough recommendation if you’re buying mainly for new PSVR2 exclusives.
