About This Video

Now that I’ve had the Quest 3 for a little while, I’ve been able to properly get under the skin of what you actually need to make this headset feel “perfect”. In this video I walk through my favourite accessories, upgrades, and one genuinely game-changing bit of software that has made the biggest difference to my day-to-day Quest 3 experience. First up is comfort, because if the headset isn’t locked in, nothing else matters. I swapped the stock fabric strap for Meta’s Elite Strap, which surprised me because I avoided the Elite Strap on Quest 2. But the Quest 3 is smaller and sleeker, and I didn’t want a huge bulky strap ruining that vibe—this one stays minimalist and feels properly secure. Then I move onto visuals with prescription lens inserts from VR Rock. They’ve massively improved the design: these are the smallest form-factor inserts I’ve used, they’re magnetically mounted, and for me they’re a night-and-day upgrade if you wear glasses. After that, I cover PCVR—why I still use a Link cable even with Air Link/Virtual Desktop, and why I swap between Meta’s soft, “disappears while playing” cable and a cheaper cable with separate power for long sessions (especially sim racing). Finally, I go through longer playtime with a power bank, lens protection basics to avoid sun damage, and Quest Game Optimizer—an app that gives you control over resolution/performance profiles and can make older Quest 2 titles look dramatically sharper on Quest 3.
