About This Video

In this video I jump into Madison VR, which was literally scientifically recognised as the scariest game of all time by the Science of Scare Project (they measured heart rate peaks across horror games). Bloodious Games have taken the original flat release and built a full VR version, and I managed to get an advanced copy to play through. You play as Luca, armed with a Polaroid-style camera, trying to complete a ritual tied to your family while you explore an eerie house and other sinister locations—and you very quickly start questioning what’s real. I’ll be honest: I don’t do well with scary games, and Madison VR absolutely ruined me. The atmosphere is nailed, but it’s the audio that makes it properly stressful in VR—creaks, doors, lightning, and constant “something’s there” energy. I even had moments where I played with one headphone off just to ground myself. It’s about a 6-hour run, but the puzzles can be frustrating because there’s basically zero handholding, and movement speed is painfully slow (especially when you’re backtracking). I played on PSVR 2, and the game being so dark really highlights mura in those scenes—so I’m curious to try PCVR too. No combat, great seated play, strong horror + escape-room vibes, and it absolutely gets my recommendation if you can handle the terror.
