Here is my review of the Meta Quest 3 VR headset. The Quest 3 is a fantastic bit of kit, that elevates the experience we got from the Quest 2 in almost every way. I would love to discuss my experiences as a long time PCVR player, Sim racer and general VR enthusiast. So why am I sending it back? Well, I encountered some challenges and frustrations despite loving every minute with this headset on; so let's talk about it. Thanks for watching.

About This Video

In this video I review the Meta Quest 3 after using it since launch day, and honestly… it’s a genuinely awesome bit of tech. The pancake lenses are the headline for me: edge-to-edge clarity, no more tiny sweet spot like the Quest 2 Fresnel lenses, and paired with the resolution bump it makes everything feel properly top tier. Visually, I actually think it’s on par with headsets like PSVR2, and in some ways better because you don’t get that hazy layer. Comfort is also a step forward thanks to the smaller form factor, plus I love having manual IPD and the eye relief adjustment built in. I also dig into controllers, standalone performance, mixed reality, and—most importantly for me—PCVR. With Virtual Desktop updates like AV1/10-bit (if you’ve got an RTX 40-series GPU) and bitrate up to 200 Mbps, I was able to get some of the most impressive wireless PCVR I’ve seen once I’d done a bit of tinkering. But despite loving the headset, I explain why I’m sending it back: storage. The 128GB model gets squeezed fast (system space + Quest 3 game updates), and I hit the “out of space” warning after installing only a handful of games. My takeaway: Quest 3 is still the way to go for my use, but I’d seriously consider the larger storage model from day one.
