In this video I’m going over the full install process for the Freedom Locker on a 2007–2014 Toyota FJ Cruiser, and it only applies if your FJ has the factory rear locker. The whole point of this mod is simple: it lets you use your OEM rear e-locker in 2WD, 4HI, and 4LO instead of being stuck with the factory limitation. If you’ve been wanting more control and traction in sand, mud, snow, or technical stuff without doing anything complicated, this is a super clean plug-and-play upgrade. I walk you through it step by step: disconnect the negative battery terminal (10mm), pull the driver-side door seal trim and kick panel, and find the blue module under the dash with the single 10-pin connector. You unplug the OEM connector, plug it into the Freedom Locker harness, plug the matching connector back into that blue box, then connect the remaining plug to the Freedom Locker module and zip-tie everything so it doesn’t move or rattle. After that I show you how to test it—key on, confirm the blue light, start it up, hit the locker button, and roll forward/back (and sometimes turn slightly) to get it to fully engage and disengage just like factory.
