In this video I’m showing you how to install a heated steering wheel on a 3rd gen Toyota Tacoma (2016-2023). It’s a legit OEM-style comfort mod for winter, and I walk you through the whole process step-by-step: disconnecting the battery (because we’re messing with the airbag), pulling the airbag with the T30 Torx bolts, unplugging the connectors carefully, and removing the factory wheel. From there I transfer over the factory controls and cruise control to the new wheel so everything fits and functions like stock. After that, the big part is swapping the clock spring to the new one that has the extra plug for the heated wheel. I show you exactly which connectors to remove, how the clips release, and how to snap the new clock spring in. Then we run the kit harness, mount the small heated wheel switch (I had to use a different blank location), and tap the switch backlight into the green wire on the nearby OEM switch (ECT) so it lights up like factory. For power, I use an add-a-fuse on the 7.5A ECU IG1 fuse and ground it at the 10mm nut behind the fuse panel. Once it’s back together, I test it—backlight works, and the wheel starts warming up in about 30 seconds, pretty comparable to a factory setup.
