The 2007–2021 Toyota Tundra is an incredibly capable truck, but one thing it never got from the factory was a locking rear differential. In this video, I’m fixing that by adding front and rear Eaton E-Lockers to my 2nd-gen Tundra so it can handle tougher trails, low-traction obstacles, and more technical off-road terrain with a lot more confidence. Eaton describes the ELocker as a selectable electronic differential that goes from open to 100% locked at the flip of a switch, and it’s available for Toyota applications, including the Tundra. One of the main reasons I wanted this setup is simple: I’ve already found the limits of an open-diff Tundra on harder trails, and I know lockers would make a major difference. Instead of using an air locker setup with compressors and airlines, I wanted something simpler and more straightforward. That’s what makes the Eaton E-Locker so appealing for a build like this. In this video, I go over why I chose to add both a front locker and rear locker to my 2007 Toyota Tundra, why this is one of the biggest off-road upgrades you can make to a 2nd-gen Tundra, and what it takes to prepare for the install.
