In this video, I’m fixing that by adding front and rear Eaton E-Lockers to my 2nd-gen Tundra so it can handle tougher trails, low-traction obstacles, and more technical off-road terrain with a lot more confidence. This here is my 2nd gen Tundra — a 2007 with the 5.7 — and I love this truck. But the one thing I do not like about it is Toyota never gave these trucks a factory locker. From 2007 all the way to 2021, even with TRD Pro, TRD Off-Road, Rock Warrior… none of them came with a rear locker, which is super unfortunate because the Tundra is already super capable off-road. In this video I’m fixing that by going front and rear Eaton E-Lockers. I talk about why I chose Eaton (reliable, been around forever, and they simply work) and why I wanted e-lockers specifically instead of messing with air lines and compressors. The big takeaway is the simplicity: both diffs are basically “two wires, hook up the harness, tie into your switch system, flip the button, and it works” — open to 100% locked immediately. I also explain the real-world reason I’m doing this: I’ve already found the limits of an open-diff Tundra on harder trails here in Colorado. We ran trails down by Ouray and the only one we couldn’t do on our own was Poughkeepsie Gulch — we had to pull winch line — and I honestly believe a locker would’ve changed that.
