About This Video

In this video I walk you through the full install of the Experimental Inc. Freedom Locker kit on a 3rd gen Tundra (2022+) and it’s the same idea for a 3rd gen Sequoia (2023+). The whole point is simple: it lets you use your factory rear e-locker in 2WD, 4HI, and 4LO, instead of being locked into the factory logic. I show you the tools I actually used, how to disconnect the battery (hybrid battery is under the rear driver-side seat), and how to get the interior panels out of the way without breaking clips. From there I run the fuse tap from driver to passenger, tap the ECU IGR No.1 fuse (10A), and then piggyback the harness into the 4WD control module by unplugging the first and last connectors and inserting the kit in-line. I also cover the optional stuff: removing the airbag crossbar to make life easier, adding the optional traction control disable wire with a T-tap (third wire, thin blue), and installing the optional LED into a factory blank switch for a clean, OEM-ish look. At the end I reconnect power, verify the module blue light, check for dash lights, zip-tie everything up so it won’t mess with the pedals, and explain how the LED tells you when the locker is fully engaged/disengaged.
