How do you install FORM Lighting tail lights on a 2010–2024 4Runner?

It’s super easy. I pop the interior access cover, remove the two 10mm nuts with a deep socket and extension, then pull the taillight straight back. After that, I feed the wires through, line up the studs and the clip, push it in until it’s flush, plug everything in, and reinstall the nuts without over-torquing.

Why are my 4Runner turn signals hyperflashing after installing LED tail lights?

Most likely you didn’t plug in the extra gray connector. In my install, there’s the main harness plug and then there’s another gray plug up top—both need to be connected. If you skip that gray plug, you’ll get hyperflash when you hit the turn signal.

Do FORM Lighting 4Runner tail lights have a startup sequence, and can you turn it off?

Yeah, they do a startup sequence where it lights from the bottom up and fills in. If you don’t want that, there’s a single black wire that comes connected from the factory. Unplug that black wire and it’ll turn on like a more factory-style taillight without the animation.

How bright are the FORM Lighting LED tail lights compared to stock or other aftermarket lights?

They’re pretty dang bright—way brighter than what I had before. The whole reason I swapped was because my previous tail lights weren’t as bright and I could hardly see them during the day on trails. With these, the running lights, signals, and brakes are much easier to see, especially with gear on the back.

What tools do I need to replace 5th gen 4Runner tail lights?

You don’t need much: a plastic trim pry tool, a deep 10mm socket with an extension, and a ratchet. The only thing to watch is not dropping the nuts down inside the panel. These new lights don’t have studs as long as the factory ones, so it’s easier to drop a nut if you’re not careful.

Because visibility gets blocked, especially if someone’s riding directly behind you on the side with the carrier and gear. I wanted something super bright so the turn signals and brake lights still punch through. It’s a safety thing—especially when you’re merging lanes or driving in daylight.

In this video I’m installing them on a 5th gen 4Runner and they’re made for 2010–2024. The install is plug-and-play with the factory harness as long as you connect both plugs. Once it’s clipped in right, it should sit flush with no weird gaps.
