About This Video

In this install down in Dallas, Texas, I’m putting in a MantelMount MM860 V2 over a large tile fireplace and pairing it with a 77-inch LG OLED (G3) and a Sonos Arc underneath. The big goal here is simple: get a TV that has to live high on a fireplace down to a comfortable eye-level viewing height—without ending up with a mount that sticks way off the wall. We start by protecting the space (drop cloths, masking) and then carefully taping the tile before any cutting or drilling. Once the TV is mocked up with the bracket, I take measurements, cut the opening, and reframe the cavity so the mount has a solid structure to lag into. I’m using multiple lag bolts and even adding an extra attachment point into the vertical stud for more shear strength. After cleanup and caulking the back box edges, I show the finished result: the MM860 drops and swivels smoothly, lets you set memory positions, and returns to “home” with the remote. We also handle the details—surge-protected power, cable management, and extending Ethernet so the TV can be hardwired back to the equipment closet. If you want this kind of clean, tight-to-the-wall fireplace setup in North Texas, this is exactly what we do.
