About This Video

In this smart home tour, I take you through a full Control4 build from the very beginning—starting with the pre-wire on a remodel in North Texas and finishing with the final install and live demo. Because the home was getting spray foamed and the equipment location was changing, we ran a new demarc path and relocated everything to a cabinet with a Strong slide-out pullout rack. I show how we planned Smurf tube runs (including 2-inch where we can for Frame TV One Connect cables), plus Ethernet and coax for TVs, access points, and future-proofing—down to using blank plates so the homeowner (or a future owner) knows what’s in the wall. On the finish-out, I walk through the gear and why it’s laid out the way it is: a Control4 Core 1, Araknis router and switch, WattBox power/UPS, and audio pieces to feed a multi-zone setup. We installed Triad PDX 8" in-ceiling speakers (with factory paint-matched grills), Episode outdoor speakers by the pool, and Samsung Frame TVs with structured wiring behind the display for a clean look. I also demo the Control4 X4 app—favorites, presets, grouping zones, and sending TV audio anywhere—so you can see how all the pieces come together into a reliable, easy-to-use system.
