In this install I’m out in Lucas, TX (North Dallas) putting a 43” SunBrite Veranda Series 4K HDR outdoor TV on a covered patio and tying it into a Control4 system. The customer had an indoor Insignia TV outside and, even under a roofline, everything up there was filthy—dust, grime, bugs, and critters. That’s the stuff that typically kills indoor TVs outside, and I’ve seen it take out HDMI boards so the TV just stops accepting a signal. We also ran into the usual headache with an indoor-rated mount: corrosion and stuck release strings, to the point I had to pull bolts out of the wall to get the TV down. Once we mocked up the outdoor-rated SunBrite mount, the Veranda TV made the wiring and service side easy. I like the rear compartment with thumb screws—on the 43” it’s tight, but it fit a Roku Ultra and our audio-over-ethernet solution so we can get clean audio back to the rack and out to the Episode Signature in-ceiling speakers. Then I demo how Control4 makes it simple: control the Roku, volume, and a single “Off” turns the room off (TV, amp, everything). We finished it off with black magnetic speaker grilles for a cleaner look and added a SunBrite universal dust cover with a remote pocket and room to accommodate a compatible soundbar.
