In this install out in Southlake, TX, I’m putting in motorized smart window shades for a big open living room that absolutely bakes when the sun hits it. The home already has a clean setup (LG 77" C3 with a Sonos Arc), so we’re doing an inside-the-frame mount for a tight, aesthetic finish. I walk through how I test-fit the cassette, verify control-side orientation (micro USB charging port and antenna on the left), mark bracket locations (no more than 2 inches from the sides), pre-drill, mount brackets, click in the stabilizer bars, and lock the cassette into place. After the shade is physically installed, I show how I pair it to a multi-channel remote that can handle up to 16 shades—perfect for a 4-window wall like this. Then I set limits (top and bottom) so the shade stops exactly where we want it. I also demo a magnetic charging cable option that makes charging way easier than trying to plug a micro USB in up on a ladder. To make everything truly “smart,” I’m using a Bond Bridge Pro so the shades can be controlled from the app and integrated into control systems like Control4. Once it’s set up, we can bring all four shades down together, stop them anywhere, and run them back up as a group.
