While it might seem excessive for smaller shoots, I highlight its potential for achieving cinematic visuals. I walk you through the setup process, covering the extra gear needed, balancing tips, and the physical demands of handling its weight. I also share my take on its usability, noting it's best suited for larger projects that require diverse angles and mobility. This is both a review and my personal reflection on mastering such a complex rig. ----------------- 🌍 My website: https://www.pulse8.uk.com 📺 WHAT IS THIS CHANNEL ALL ABOUT? About This Video

In this video I put the Tilta Float System through a proper reality check, because on paper it can look like total overkill. I bought it for car filming to try and get those epic, dynamic moves—over the window, through the window—but I’ll be honest: trying to demo it in my tiny YouTube room was hard work. The big takeaway is that this kind of rig is practical for filmmaking, but it’s not “grab and go.” It’s heavy, it’s bulky, and you need space to work. I walk through what you actually need to run it (it’s not just the Float): a gimbal, camera, V-mount batteries, a proper vest setup, and—massively important—a storage stand. Balancing is a whole new level compared to just balancing a gimbal, because you’re dealing with rotations, pole height, and getting the whole system to feel friction-free and smooth. When you do get it dialled in, it genuinely takes the bounce out of your movement and gives you that cinematic float… but you’ve got to practice before taking it on a paid job. I also talk money and who it’s really for. Retail is pricey, but I got mine brand new on eBay for £799 which felt like a bargain. For me, it makes most sense on bigger shoots or all-day events where you need high/low angles and mobility—otherwise the setup time and extra costs can negate the benefit.
