About This Video

This video is my real-world review of the DJI RS 4 Mini, and honestly… it feels like a massive leap for gimbals. The headline feature is the Intelligent Tracking module on top. It means the camera can follow me subtly while the operator (in my case, Rob) can focus on not falling into a pond. You can start/stop tracking by holding up your hand for the green light, or your operator can hit the trigger—so it’s kind of “dual operator” on the tracking side. I also show how you can set your composition so you’re not forced dead-centre, but my advice is: stop tracking, get your framing, then re-enable it. I also go through the little details that actually matter on shoots: the new base plate design with that plastic ridge that stops the camera twisting (a lifesaver on heavier rigs and FPV-style movement), the briefcase handle adjustments for underslung/low shots, and balancing improvements thanks to DJI’s Teflon-coated sections (it’s not a gimmick—it genuinely moves smoother). Battery-wise, DJI claims 12 hours, and the fast charge is the real win: 30 minutes gets you around 5 hours back. Just remember the battery isn’t detachable, so car rigs/tilta float-style power options are limited. Bottom line: I bought it for professional use, and for me it’s a proper step up from my RS 3—especially because of that Intelligent Tracking.
