About This Video

In this video I’m showing you how I’m taking an iPhone 16 Pro/Max up a notch for filmmaking using the Freewell Sherpa Ultimate Filmmaking Kit — but I’ll say it straight away: none of this really works properly without the Blackmagic Camera app. It’s free, it’s not sponsored, and it’s where you lock your settings and actually control the features that make these filters and lenses worth using. I start with the Sherpa case because that’s the foundation. It slips on easily, still lets you access the iPhone’s photo button, and it’s not some bulky monster that gets stuck in your pocket. From there I run through the magnetic filters: a variable ND (basically sunglasses for your camera), a CPL for cutting reflections on water and car shots, and a 1/4 pro mist for that softer, less “digital” look with a bit of bloom around lights. The fun bit for me is the anamorphic lens. It’s heavier and not pocket-friendly, but it’s the thing that gives you that cinematic, sci‑fi vibe with those streaks you’ll recognise from big films — and it really comes alive at night with lights in shot. I finish with the grip: I both love it and hate it, but it does make the phone feel like a proper camera, adds mounting points, and even has a clever extendable section for more creative angles.
