About This Video

If your DJI Pocket 3 footage is coming out blown out and “bleached”, this is exactly how I fix it with three simple steps. I built a little stage so I can control the light and show it properly, but the same approach applies outside too. The big idea is: lock in the correct motion settings first, then use ISO to land your exposure where you want it—because trying to “fix” exposure the wrong way can make your footage look stuttery and horrible. Step one, I set my frame rate (I’m on 25fps in 4K). Step two, I jump into the Pro settings, keep colour on Normal so it’s easy to follow, and I set shutter speed to double my frame rate (so 25fps = 1/50). Step three, I adjust ISO until my exposure looks right, and I’d rather sit a touch under (like around -0.7 EV) than go over—because once you’ve overexposed, you can’t get that detail back. If you’re outside and you’ve hit the minimum ISO/shutter but it’s still too bright, that’s when ND filters come in. They’re basically sunglasses for your Pocket 3, and a variable ND is brilliant when the light keeps changing.
