In this video I’m testing the TELESIN C40 portable fog machine and showing you just how quickly you can add atmosphere to your shots with basically a touch of a button. I’m not here to get super nerdy—I’m showing it like I use it: press the button, watch the fog roll, and see how it changes the look of your lighting. If you’ve ever wondered how films get those visible light beams and that “sun cutting through haze” look, this is exactly the kind of tool that makes it happen. I run through what comes in the kit (including the really nice carry case), how the detachable remote works, and why the quarter thread on the bottom is a big deal—mount it on a tripod in a corner and trigger it from a distance. I also show the different attachments: the standard spout for blasting fog, an atomiser-style piece that keeps it more contained for an ambient look, and a “hoover” style attachment that lets you create low-hanging fog on a surface for beauty shots. Big takeaway: fog only looks great when you’ve got light to catch it. In broad daylight it’s not going to pop, but with a hair light or any decent lighting setup, it looks absolutely brilliant and hangs around in a room for roughly 20–25 minutes.
